From the New Yorker

Annals of Innovation

In the Air

Who says big ideas are rare?

by Malcolm Gladwell May 12, 2008

In the nineteen-sixties, the sociologist Robert K. Merton wrote a famous essay on scientific discovery in which he raised the question of what the existence of multiples tells us about genius. No one is a partner to more multiples, he pointed out, than a genius, and he came to the conclusion that our romantic notion of the genius must be wrong. A scientific genius is not a person who does what no one else can do; he or she is someone who does what it takes many others to do. The genius is not a unique source of insight; he is merely an efficient source of insight.”

Calcium Deposits in Arteries, Vitamin K2, Butter...

http://www.i-sis.org.uk/calciumDepositsHeartDisease.php

Vitamin K2 : The best sources of vitamin K2 are fermented foods and
grass-fed animal fats. Fermented foods such as sauerkraut, cheese, and
natto, a soy dish popular in Eastern Japan, contain substantial amounts of
vitamin K2. Natto, in fact, contains the highest amount of any food measured.

And...have a pat or two of GOOD butter too

Hello Friends!

Keep Walking...

When life becomes tough,
with twists and turns!
When the sun turns hot,
and your skin burns!
When the wind blows,
And its hard to move on!
When your strength breaks,
and all hope's gone!
When pebbles and stones hurdle your way,
and you miss a glowing day!
When troubles mount up high,
and your perseverance begins to die!
When things don't seem as they should
Don't quit but start to fight,
Surely you will soon see the light
All walk in crowds, that's easy
Greatness lies on walking when its dizzy!
Remember this when clouds cover the skies!
In turning around failure does, success lie!
Keep walking when its dark and dense!
Success lies in struggling with confidence.

Weather, weather !

(C) V 2004.  14 Oct 2004. For GM

Weather is kinda madeup of
'air' and 'moisture'
you can't see either, but
can feel them for sure

hot air moves, and with it
goes the moisture

cool air is heavy & slow
it lets the moisture go

but what makes the air move
is the power of the sun
the sun is strong and radiates
energy to warm the earth.

the earth's got both rock and water
and they are as different as chalk from cheese.
and why does that matter ?
listen v. carefully please

when the rock heats up
the water is still cool
when the rocks cool down
the water is still warm !

and there's more
the earth's not flat, it's actually round
a bit like an orange
that got squashed - we've found.

so the waist of the earth is
near to the sun
where it gets hot & humid
unlike the poles at the ends.

now you've gotta take the orange
and give it a mighty spin
see the hot winds rise up
and the cold ones rush in

but, wait a minute
the orange ain't straight,
you gotta tilt it a bit
at degrees 22 and min eight ??

you take this spinning orange
and you make it walk aroun'
in non-circular elliptic orbits
around the blazing sun

ask the weather office & you'll know
seasons come and seasons go
it's the tilt of the earth that gives us fall
also spring, summer, winter and all.

now you know
what goes into weather
but what's climate ?
that's different altogether :-)
